The Hobart in Blue

The weathered building stands sentry amongst its newer contemporaries. Defiant, it has glared down on Market Street for nearly 100 years; it is unmoved by the hands of time, its tower demanding attention. “Hobart Building,” declares its base, as it stands amidst the dusty streets of Fog City. Its façade is marking time in ways different than the glass and steel around it; brick by brick it rises above the din, yet encompasses it. Its terra cotta overcoat protects a heart of brass and marble. Hobart is unique in this space and opens wide its windows to breathe; when all else falls to ruin, Hobart will remain.

I took this photo on a whim, never thinking I would have a chance to do something like post it as a prompt 🙂
