About

Hello and Welcome to Storied Impressions.

I started this fun blog because I was given a very special gift last Christmas of my father’s digital camera (Canon Digital EOS Rebel XTi) and I wanted to acquaint myself with this wonderful tool and make it feel at home in my hands.

At the time, I had just started Julie Hedlund’s 12×12 program (write one children’s story each month for a year).  The concept of having a monthly creative goal was inspiring.  The concept for Storied Impressions was, at first, just to have a focus for my own picture taking each month and to keep my creative writing skills exercised.  After chatting about the idea with friends, I realized that it would be even more fun to include anyone interested…  so Storied Impressions went global.

I’m already having a great time seeing the world in a different light and coming up with stories that simply seem to jump from the photos as soon as I start pondering.

I’m glad you are joining us.   I look forward to seeing your photo/words soon!

If you have any questions, email me at storiedimpressions at gmail dot com.

Have a great 2013!

P.S. I love flowers.  I took the photo of the Clematis in the banner of this site a few years ago on an early summer morning.  It was an amazing year for the vine.  I am inclined towards the beauty of flowers and thought you might enjoy this poem, written in 1875 by a lovely person, one can only assume:

There is a language, little known,
Lovers claim it as their own.
Its symbols smile upon the land,
Wrought by nature’s wondrous hand;
And in their silent beauty speak,
Of life and joy, to those who seek
For Love Divine and sunny hours
In the language of the flowers.

–The Language of Flowers, London, 1875
